Mangoes are rich in antioxidants and add lots of fiber to the diet. Mangoes were also the fruit in ancient times around 6000 years ago and kings of ancient India also loved this fruit.

Mangoes are not eaten as routinely in America as are apples and pears, for instance, but if you ever try a fully ripe, sweet juicy mango, you will want to try it again and again. Eaten by themselves or in a variety of dishes, mangoes add antioxidants and fiber to your diet.

From the start of Vedic period mangoes are widely appreciated because of their qualities and benefits. Mango trees can grow up to the height of 50 feet in India and they belong to the family of pistachios and cashews. Not only the fruit but other parts of the mango tree such as flowers, seeds, leaf and barks are also very useful and are used in different purposes. Thousands of varieties of mangoes are available and all are different in size, taste, color and shape. From round to oval shape different shapes of mangoes are available in India.

Ripe mangoes are yellow and orange in color and are juicy and sweet. They are ready to eat when they are soft in touch and give away in gentle press. If you brought green color mangoes then you can also ripen them at home in room temperature. The best eating mango is fiber less mango dark orange in color but stringy mango can also be juicy and sweet.

They are good for acidity, digestion, and heart problems and also prevent from cancer. They are good source of vitamin C and iron which is good for glowing skin.
